Default Troubleshooting A Ghost

Model: 2007 YDRE 48V with 4each 12V batteries.

Whether or not the ignition key is in the cart or not. With the switch turned in the off position, I can depress the accelerator pedal, and the cart whines.
When the key is in, and turned on, It will run/accelerate, and will even do pretty well as long as I keep the batteries charged.

It's when I stop that I realize there is a problem. The aforementioned whine continues even with the brake fully engaged. When I switch the cart to Tow Mode, the solenoid deactivates, and the whine ceases.

After I put the Tow switch back to Normal Operation, the solenoid re-engages.

I have tested the ignition switch, it is working normally. I have double checked the battery wiring, it is correct. I have ensured all connections are tight.

Any hints, advice, or opinions are deeply appreciated. I have waaaaaayyyy too much money in this thing to not repair it.

Thanks in advance,
Klell

Sounds like maybe your solenoid wiring is shorted

Do you mean the wiring to and from the solenoid, or internally?

Well, on that model, a shorted solenoid circuit would result in a blown fuse in the fuseholder near the controller. So if your fuse isn't blown, your solenoid circuit isn't shorted.

If the solenoid + wire was shorted to another specific wire it would come on as soon as the tow switch was turned on. Perhaps the controller is getting a false signal from the motor speed sensor instead.

Okay. Some discoveries have been made.
1. The motor is where the whining is coming from.
2. Turn the Tow switch to Tow, and the solenoid deactivates, as stated previously, but the problem can only be initiated with the key on. Once this starts, whether the key is in, or turned on, or taken completely out of the switch, the whining, and the clicking from the solenoid can only be stopped by turning Tow switch back to Tow mode.

Well, I see some monkey business going on there. Your aftermarket controller is for a ADC motor, and you have a Hitachi motor.

Not surprised. Bought locally, and not happy since I had it. Decided to take matters into my own hands.

Here is what I call the throttle/Pedal position sensor. It was caked in red clay mud with a golf ball

What's the best way to test this position sensor/speed sensor?
