valves g-9
hello there, i finally started working on my limo g-9 .it has been sitting in the woods for about 8 months and the engine was in pieces, and i am trying to put it back together. my question is setting the valves !what position should the engine be in? i put it at tdc and it is blowing out of the carb. and the valves are not stuck i have heard that on some carts you need engine in a different position or do i have timing issues??pictures to follow ...thanks

Re: valves g-9
Should be at top dead center and valves adjusted at .004 if I remember right. You can click on Yamaha in my sig and look it up. I usually pull the plug, take a screwdriver and stick in the cyclinder and move the engine until the screwdriver is at it highest point and then adjust. Just the way I do it.

Re: valves g-9
You said the engine was in pieces. Did you have the side cover off?

Re: valves g-9
i bought this from a golf cart shop that was cleaning out old stuff .and this motor had the head off with a bolt broken off in the block ;when they realized the problem was a cracked intake on the carb. i pulled the motor out to rebuild before i attempted to put it back together and it seems every bolt i try to get out breaks. so the cylinder wall and piston looked good so i figured i would just put it back together.so i don,t think i will be able to take it apart to fix anything.but both push rods are moving. i still have the valve cover off playing with it with no air filter box or any plastic back on it do you think that could have anything to do with it??
