Maverik, have you checked that the microswitches and the solenoid are working properly?

Not unless it is 36 or 48v whateber your system is? A simple digital voltmeter will.

5 days and 3 pages for a starter that won't turn? And you wanna know why I can't concentrate I have built carts from the ground up in less time.
In answer to your question is Yes. A test light will test your 12v switches. I think that if you are still having trouble diagnosing this problem you should consider taking the cart to a qualified technician

Did you check to see if the voltage was going through the solenoid when trying to start it? In other words, when trying to start the cart, both large terminals of the solenoid should have power. Did you try just shorting out the two large posts on the solenoid to each other to see if the starter will turn over? Thus putting power directly to the starter. Did you check to see if the small post on the solenoid has power when the starter switch is activated? Are you sure the battery is good, and is charged up? Since this thread has started, I have rebuilt four carbs on my motorcycle, fixed my chainsaw, put a wheel bearing in my Miata, cleaned the ethenol goo out of my CC carb, patched the gas tank on my grandson's four wheeler, cleaned up my garage, and still had time to read all these posts. Come on get this thing going already. If you really can't diagnose this yourself, call me and I'll walk you through it. Shoot me an email and I'll give you my number. daydreamer1948@hotmail.com

Update: i got it cranking this afternoon there was a messed up microswitch on the forward/reverse switch i guess i overlooked it, now i know how vital the micro switches are.
but i can't get any spark to the boot, could it be the box between the the boot and the engine deal that makes spark

Boot? Engine deal? Too technical for me.
