Default No power 1991 Gas Club Car

I just lifted a 1991 Gas Club Car. 22" tires it looks great but lack of power is an issue, will hardly go up a hill. Can I disable the governer and get a tack or are new gears in order or both? New to golf carts and any help is appreciated!

Welcome nocch, How old is the drive belt?
An old/stretched belt will actually start pulling higher in the drive (front) clutch resulting the feel of starting out in 2nd/3rd gear.
With 22" tires, replace the belt with a 1" shorter belt and you should pick up plenty of low end torque with out noticable loss of topend.
That is the cheapest way to pick up torque.

Thank you very much, how long is the one that is on a 1991 CLub Car originally, probably would do much good to measure the old one. This is my first cart so sorry for my ignorance!

I just saw this!

1991 was about the year Club Car crossed over from the KF82 (Flathead) to the FE290 (OHV),

IF you have a Flathead, That particular engine is known to have been somewhat "weak",
and putting 22" tires on it, are going to make it struggle that much more, with very little you can do about it!
(It's "Par for the Course"... no pun intended!)

If the engine is an FE290 OHV, you should be able to get "a little more" out of it!

But right off the bat... I'll agree with crash, get a new drive belt, (and a S/G belt while your at it!)
check with any one of the BGW sponsors for one,
Or, I think there was a thread here somewhere that cross referenced the OEM belt to a Napa,
but the heck if I can find it!

and just a note:
On my buddies 94, the engine mounts are adjustable, and we were able to slide his engine forward,
taking out the excess slack! BUT... we only did this AFTER we put on a new OEM drive belt!

Soooo... YOU (we) are going to need to know what engine you have... the KF82 or the FE290,
BEFORE you decide on what additional speed and torque mods you want, or... that you can do!

It's pretty simple really... If it's an FE290, it will have an "OHV" right on the valve cover!

The flathead looks very similar to a Kohler, or similar small engine!

No offense... I thought you may have been able to do it from memory!
But, I'm pretty much guessing you don't look under the seat that often.
