Engine not turning over.
98 turf 2. Battary is fully charged but the starter/ gen will not turn. The solinoid clicks but thats all. What can I test to see what the problem might be?

Re: Engine not turning over.
Jump the solenoid. It could click but not pass voltage through to the starter. Also, check your grounds on the starter. Also, try turning the motor a bit by hand, if you have a bad winding in the starter or some types of brush problems, it may seem to be ok after you turn it a bit, until it stops on the same spot on the armature. That last one however only points the finger at the starter and indicates you may need a rebuild.
take a look at this thread, it's long, but, contains lots of info on testing starting & charging problems. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...tor-101-a.html |

Re: Engine not turning over.
Many thanks for the help. Just taken the 4 brush covers off the gen & a bunch of copper just fell out. Think Ive found the problem.
