Default another no start question

2000.5 club starts only when it wants to. Turns over fine just doesn't start and after 30 secs to a minute of turning over it smells flooded without ever chocking it. Next day it might start right up. When it does start it runs fine maybe with a little fuel smell. Put a new plug and checked the spark at the plug. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply shadowman. On saturday I took the carb off cleaned it and put it back on. It ran fan for about a half mile then died, started back up and ran fine again. Sunday it started fine and ran about a half mile, backfired really loud and died. Started back up and ran fine for a long ride. Today it won't start. I'm thinking it might be an intermitent spark issue but don't really know where to start.

Yes I've replaced the plug. When i got home tonight it wouldn't start so i pulled the plug to check for spark. At first no spark then moved the plug and wire around a little and it started to spark. Reinstalled the plug and it fired up. A bad wire i quess. Can i replace just the wire? I haven't taken the cover off yet to see how the other end is attached. I'll do that tomorrow.

Does it take much to get to the coil while the motor is in the cart
