try unplugging the kill switch wire at the engine, ( it is a single wire coming from the engine running to rev limiter , there are a couple close to the rev limiter make sure its the one from the engine to rev limiter.) this will seperate the ignition coil from all the switches, if it runs fine then it may not be the coil then you just start checking switches. could be rev limiter. key switch.
keep in mind the engine will not shut off when that wire is unplugged, you have to ground it to shut it off. |

It sounds like the coil to me I had it happen twice on two different carts and after I replaced the coil it has worked great all summer on both carts. They both get ran all day everyday as service carts on a 50,000 acre camping community.
