The movable face side. I have it machined until there is a 3/8 wide flat spot, Don't do more or you may machine it in half.

No, On the side of the clutch tat moves in and out have machined the inner most edge to 3/8. That way the clutches will go closer together.

oh, i get it. so the halfs are closer together. then scoot the engine back some because the belt would be tighter because its higher in the pulley. do i just machine the moveable shive and leave the other alone....
