Default Shift Control Cable Adjustments?

I have a 93 Marathon 4 Stroke and I was curious if there is any way to adjust my shift control cables. First of all they are backwards so reverse is forward and vice versa. They also seem to be loose and every now and then it seems to 'pop' out of reverse (when going forward). When I bought the cart it did not run and so I purchased a new engine from my local dealer and when I was removing the broken one I noticed the skid plate underneath had smashed the cables a little bit (I didn't put it back on with the new engine, I think I will build a bigger one that will cover the diff. as well) So basically I am planning on buying some new cables at some point, but until then I was wondering how I would go about getting the tighter and possibly switch them back to how they are supposed to be?

Thank You!

I got them switched around, but they still seem kind of loose. This is my first cart so I'm not sure if maybe that's how there supposed to be?

Not sure if its the same on a marathon, but on a medalist or txt dual cable setup the factory setting is to have the nuts 1.375" from the plate that pivots on the transmission.

If you have them too tight, it makes finding neutral nearly impossible. Beleive me I know, I have had mine too tight for a year.. Finally adjusted them correctly last night.

Ok, thank you BoostedOne. I will have to measure them tomorrow. And my marathon is a dual cable set up as well and finding neutral is pretty tricky lol

its a 93, so everything is a little worn, snug up the 10mm nuts on the diff then take up any slack u can on the lever mount
