We ride rough terrain almost exclusively. Maybe that contributes to it.

Possibly if the dirt/mud gets to the battery cables. Especially if it's more acidic soil

Here in FL the soil is basically sandy crap and the people with golf carts nearest to the ocean typically have bad rust issues so they need to be more proactive about washing their carts down
