Battery maintainer question 03 DS
Should I wire the negative from my granite digital 48v maintainer to b- on the controller or to the negative post on the battery?

Re: Battery maintainer question 03 DS
Definitely better to have it on B- of the controller, away from the corrosive batteries, but I'm wondering if having it there will confuse the OBC. Let's see if others chime in...

Re: Battery maintainer question 03 DS
Right now I have it to the batteries but someone suggested to me putting it on the b-. I only use it after my powerdrive ii charger shuts off.

Re: Battery maintainer question 03 DS
It is a good question and one to which I don't have an answer.
I use mine in the way you do. I charge fully with the PowerDrive CC charger then I switch to the Save-a-Battery and I connect that to the pack terminals. I think it is necessary to connect power draws such as reducers to B- but I don't think it matters with the maintainers so long as you charge fully with the big charger first. |

That’s what I figured. How long have you had yours setup, I’m wondering if the obc would read the current going back into the cart if I went to b-

Good question. I would think if the OBC reads what is put out by regen it would read this too.

It stands to reason that the OBC would read what goes in but I'm not sure if that would have any effect on its control of the CC charger. |

What’s the consensus on this? Am I wasting my time wiring the negative from the tender to b- on the controller?

Re: Battery maintainer question 03 DS
Just wire the maintainer directly to the pack negative.
If Your maintainer puts out less than 2 amps, the OBC will not measure that much current by itself. The worst case scenario (which is not bad) is that the OBC could provide a little extra charge the next time it is used depending on how long the cart was kept in the maintainer. |
