An old thread but now there is an answer, almost. I have seen it done on an '87 DS in similar fashion. Instead of the complex soleniod wiring the buggy used a Guest marine battery switch designed to handle multiple battery banks in parallel an series, but strangely inexpensive. The switch comes in many models but there is one that ensures separation of contacts before making the next one. It has a selector for 1,2 1+2 or none. It was wired so that the switch in the 1 position was normal, the 1+2 position was the extra 12 volts in series from the non resistor terminal and 2 had the cart powered normally but all the electronics (lights, radio, etc) came off the separate 12 volts. The owner suggests only switching when at WOT and uses it for short bursts of seed. It seems to work well, he sure blows away my 89 DS.
