Default 92 electric club car problems

I have a 48 volt, 1992 electric club car. The batteries are all up and good but when I accelerate the car, it only goes a short distance and then cuts out. I have to let off the gas, wait for the solinoid to click out and then I can press on the gas again and then it will accelerate again. When going up hills, it kicks out twice as fast. Going down hill, it hardly ever kicks out. Seems like the more load, the easier it kicks out. Anybody got any ideas???
Aslo the electric brake for going down hills is not enguaging either

Sounds like a bad solenoid. There were no 48v carts made in 1992. So it is either a conversion or not a 92. It won't have electric braking (regen) unless it is a Sepex motor which again they did not make in 92... so what is your serial #?

always start with basics, i know you say batteries are up but that dosn,t mean its not a battery or cable problem.......test and load test batteries and check and if needed clean cables ......give each one a pull make sure they are tight and make certain batteries are holding under load........................
