Do high amp controllers = quick battery drain
I know this is kind of a nembie question but wouldn't a high amp controller and a higher horse motor drain your batteries faster than a stock set up? I have a dealer nearby that let me drive a Club Car DS with a 500 amp controller and a 11 horse motor (according to him). It would pop the front wheels off the ground when you punched to pedal. It was smoking fast but you had to baby the foot pedal if you wanted to go slow.

Re: Do high amp controllers = quick battery drain
I have a 91 CC that I converted to a 48v 500amp controller with the stock 36v motor and I have been jamming for years now. My power can last for many, many hours. I really don't know how long it will run before it runs down as I have never gone that far. I'm sure the experts out here will chime in, but I love it and have never really had a problem with the batt's being to low. I did also install an on-board Q-charger that does an awesome job even with half charges. Once I plug it in for the night, it seems to take care of the batteries making sure it over bakes to clean the plates. I can't really answer your question, but I'm sure someone will.

How much you get out of a charge depends quite a bit on your right foot when you have the higher amp controllers. I'd guess that the cart that you drove had the throttle turned up pretty high. You can program it down to be kinder and gentler but how long the batteries will last will still depend on how you drive it.

Like TerryH Said.
It's sort of like putting that big block in the Chevrolet. It's never going to get the mileage the old straight 6 got but it doesn't have to drain the tank to go to the store. |

Re: Do high amp controllers = quick battery drain
With an IQ cart you can have the throttle set to not be so twitchy on take off or give it full juice. Of course with more hp its going to want to go when you touch the pedal but you learn to control it by using the bottom of the pedal instead of the top. As far as battery drain goes a higher hp setup will use more electrons but how much depends on so many factors.
