Battery Charger and Lightning
We had the fifth wheel and DS golf cart at a camp ground at Naples Saturday. We experienced a storm that had a lot of lightning. One strike was very close. After the storm drove the cart around to observe the damage. When we returned I connected the charger. Nothing. After doing some testing Sunday morning I discovered diodes were blown. Club Car manual even stated this could happen with lightning. have replacement parts ordered. I am going to install a surge suppressor before the battery charger. Just a waning to others.
By the way it also fried the circuit board in the ac, the thermostat, the hot water tank limit switches, the breaker to the hot water tank, cable cord from the pedestal and tore the canopy. |
