How To Check Crank for Alignment
What is the best wat to check a crank for being straight. I have a few cranks from blown engines & want to make sure that the cranks are not bent. I have access to my friends machine shop so I can check them to very small tolarances.

Re: How To Check Crank for Alignment
If it were me doing this, I would mount the crank in a block, turned upside down, and use a dial indicator with a good smooth ball end, mounted securely on a main journal bolt, and check each end for run out. Just adjust it to the crank surface, and set it to zero, and slowly turn the crank by hand. The dial will tell you if it is strait or has run out.
