True Dat!! Weld or have it welded back together and reinstall it.
If you do have it welded, might BBQ it to remove any carbon or oil build up before you reinstall.
I'm a tightwad so if it was there I would clean it up inside and out.

I thought the 82 was supposed to be the best stock G1 muffler of all the years. I would try welding it back on it. Failing that [ick up a banshee muffler for $40 and weld that on. Third option is buy the Plowmans muffler

I spoke to plowman today and for him to order the muffler I would need it would about $220.Not in stock! I didn't realize that his store is only 40 miles away . Not bad if I need large parts . As far as the banshee muffler goes , here is a picture of what I can get locally for $25 used.I'm still confussed if the banshee muffler only is what I could use , or the banshee pipe and muffler together and then have an extra set for a spare .Or you are right I could try to salvage the old muffler. I would build a fire, get it "coals hot" ready, sit the muffler in it with either the inlet or outlet facing up and cook it keeping the fire hot. Might take a couple of hours but that's all you are doing, nothing magical, cook/burn the old oil and carbon out of the inside to "open" it back up.

You could have it rewelded and install it, you haven't had it on so you really don't know the condition or why it was removed do you?
Might be someone cut a perfectly good muffler off to try to install a "cool" one.

Keep us posted....

The used muffler I bought off ebay for my g1 came in today, really solid looking. I noticed though it does not have the throttle plate in the exhaust. since the old one has a broken flange and rotted bottom I am thinking about cutting off the old section of the old exhaust and welding into the new one. I can know on a two stroke that would work like a powervalve and probably help. Anyone know what years they offered that?

Like Crash said BBQ it, I done mine and I have a 82 model and you would not believe the crap than ran out of it. I cooked it good for 3 hours, let it cool down put it back on and man what power my old cart had then. Plus I didnt see any more smoke coming out the muffler.

I know this post is old, but someone may be able to use this information and pics of my system. I can not believe what a difference the pipe made now that I am getting close to getting my primary clutch dialed in. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...1&d=1258321439
