Default on/off switch arcing

I have a '14 YDREX4 I bought a couple of months ago I had to replace the on/off sw once already and now I have to replace it again due to the contacts inside arcing and melting away. what would cause this to keep happening?

thanks in advance
Tony

Do you have any accessories hooked up through the switch (lights, stereo etc)? for it to melt the switch suggests something is pulling more power through it than what it's intended for. Beyond that, check your wiring to & from the stop switch under the accelerator pedal - I've found that wiring hanging under the cart is a common spot for corrosion issues.

yea I found it today, the guy I bought it from had the 12v converter 48v wire connected through the on/off sw so it was zapping it!

Most key switches can handle this load if wired properly. Apparently this cart can not. Put in a separate switch for the reducer on/off and the key switch should be okay

Use a reducer with a separate "activate wire", instead of all current passing through the key switch.
