new to carts

ok cart people i've been looking at this forum for a while just joined.
i just got my first yamaha golf cart .of course it didn't run. so i have a few questions for u gear heads.first off i can't find out what kind it is i can't decipher the serial number. jg5 is it a 1,9,14,5,?
it is afour stroke
1 first it has no power to the pedal switch so i jumped that. can't find the prob.there
got it to crank by bypassing the switch with a jumper wire to the battery and hot on solenoid
2 carb was pushing fuel out of front so took carb off and cleaned all jets reset the air/fuel screw to1 1/2 turns like most atv carbs fixed that.
3 the smoke oh the smoke motor smokes alot but runs pretty good
4 the generator is not charging it will run around about thirty minutes before killing the battery , stoping, starting etc. sometimes the starter will not turn the engine on compression stroke ,just rapidly click ,not the solenoid.
alright try these out in your minds i'll have some more tomorrow.

Welcome. JG5 indicates a G-9.

thanks, ok its g9 any ideas on the generator. oh and will a generator off a g1 work on a g9
