Default Clutch Noise?

Hello, this is my first post. Been reading here for a while and have a question now myself. I got and 80's Yamaha G1, I believe from what I have seen from reading on here. It needs some work, just been ran not maintained. When you put the accelerate there is a clicking like sound coming from the back. Sounds like a plasticky click, not metal, if that makes any sense. Anybody have any ideas? Clutch maybe, and what would cause it? Thanks.

Is it a ticking sound? That is what I had on mine. I took my belt off and ran the cart and the sound went away, and that is when I figured out the sound was the clattering of the sheaves touching.

It's kinda a ticking sound. It's only on take off or when you put load on the clutch. Hard to find out where it is coming from when it does it when moving.

I put it up on blocks and ran it. The clicking sound isnt as bad. Everything looks right, except the plastic pulley on the starter has fins and one looks broke, but the noise seems to be coming from the plastic pulley on the back with the spring. I will get a better pick of it tomorrow and post it, maybe that will help better, I think I could actually record it with the digital video camera and post it, I'll have to figure that one out, but for now I will get some better pics.
