G1 engine clutch- outer sheave?
Guys,
Any idea where an outer sheave could be found for a G1? Any idea on how much I'm looking at for a replacement? The one on mine is worn through in a few spots where the belt rides! I've never seen that happen before. Is that common on a G1? If so, why? Are they not made of very thick aluminum to start with? Thanks, Steve |

The site sponsors have them. I believe they are called the "Secondary Sliding Sheave". I had the same problem also. When I looked last they were around $120-$130.
Here is what mine looked like |

Re: G1 engine clutch- outer sheave?
The aluminum sheaves wear through over time, especially if the buggy is used in a sandy environment. Keep in mind these machines are 20-30 years old. That is a lot of wear and tear. You stated you are looking for the engine clutch sheave, ky_mike is showing the secondary clutch. It is more common for the secondary to wear through, which one are you looking for?

Re: G1 engine clutch- outer sheave?
I'm looking for the outer sheave on the engine. The sheave that the weights work against. Its the aluminum, Yamaha brand clutch- it has the Yamaha emblem on it. If I could find one of these cheaply that would be great- Christmas took care of any extra funds that could have been spent on golf cart items... I could put this one back on and use it, its been working with it for years now, I just figured it would be better with a non-worn out sheave.
Thanks, Steve |

What clutch to you have, they used an alum one and then later put or replaced them with the G2/9 clutch it has a big gold cover on it with no center bolt showing.

It is the aluminum clutch- not the gold colored one. Any ideas on where to find one? Anyone parting out one of these carts?

Post a WTB in the for sale section? Check your local Craigslist to see if anyone is selling a whole cart cheap?

Re: G1 engine clutch- outer sheave?
I don't think anyone makes parts for those anymore, but they are a good clutch for our use you can shim or stretch the spring for better launch. They are not as smooth on takeoff as newer clutches. You can still get parts for the G9/2 clutches with no spring.
