Starting Engine without clutch on the cart?
Does anyone know a way to start the cart without my drive clutch being on? The pully for the starter belt is mounted to the backside of the clutch. Reason asking is there is some clanking coming from under there and im trying to determine if its rod knock or something in the clutch. cant tell...

Put the clutch bolt back in and hit it with an impact wrench. Make sure you are spinning it the correct direction. I've had to do it a couple times.

Re: Starting Engine without clutch on the cart?
If you take the clutch off then put just the bolt back in the crank and spin it up to run it you can tell. If it still makes the noise it's the engine. If it doesn't it's the clutch.

Re: Starting Engine without clutch on the cart?
Ya I hear ya on getting the impact in there. If it's lifted you can probably get at it from underneath just fine. Have a friend inside to make sure the brakes are being held, it's in neutral and ready to kill the engine just in case.

Re: Starting Engine without clutch on the cart?
you can also yank the front cover from the clutch and put the rear part on with the starter belt. there is nothing moving on that part. i actually have one of these that i keep around for this purpose.
