The 1987 clutch sits about a 1/2 farther out than the 88. if you put a 88 on a 87 the belts will not line up. found out the hard way.

just looked it up in book and 84 to 87 part # is1012287 and 88 to 91 is #1016378-01......they look just a bit different in book so with different part #,s one would assume yes they are different.........................................

I'm shopping clutches on Baker's Cart supply and they have a note on their '88 and up clutch (part number 5700-B25):

"Will fit 84-87 but you must use your existing pulley. The pulley is easily removed with 3 bolts"

I figured it out too. Bought an '86 motor for my cart (my '87 cart has 88-up clutches, but that's another story). If I want to use this clutch I'll have to re-mount the motor over a little bit.
