Default 88 Club car with aftermarket muffler

I just purcahsed a 88 gas club car. The previous owner has an aftermarket muffler that is just too loud for my neighbors. I am looking to replace it, but don't have the money for a new stock muffler. Is their an aftermarket alternative? Maybe off a tractor or atv that is not as loud?

Also my neighbor has about the same cart as mine. His only runs when you hit the gas? Mine runs constantly. I asked the previous owner about it and he said it can be set up to only run with the gas pedal, but didn't know anything about how to do it? can soem one steer me in the right direction with that?
Thanks!

You might have an aftermarket motor.

Its the original KF82 motor. They just hacked up the end of the exhaust pipe and put an aftemarket muffler on. The header tube and the flange at the end are still in good shape.

So when you turn the key it just starts and idles? A quick throttle adjustment could be all it needs to shut off when you're not moving. That or possibly they have the idle speed screw (top of carburetor) set high enough to spin the motor at an idle.

Here's what my throttle looked like before I started working on it (blown motor). The threaded rod is where you make the adjustments. It has two nuts one it, one on either side of the bracket that's bolted to the motor.

When I turn the key to on, it starts up and constantly runs. I don't even touch the gas pedal. The previous owner said his buddy set it up that way. He said you can set it back to how it was, but couldn't tell me how to do it.
What are your thoughts?

When the motor is running are you able to manually pull the throttle arm (top of carb) back all the way until it shuts off?

That's a common modification to mAke. Search around on here and check the wiring diagrams vs what you have. I think to do that they unhook a wire from the micro switches in the black box but not 100% sure. As others have said you throttle could be way out of adjustment Aswell. I would check the wiring first though since he said he had a friend set it up to run like that.
