Default 84 CC drive belt adjustment

I put a new Extreme Duty belt on my '84 CC with the KF82 -341CC engine. (It is lifted BTW). Ran great and pulled hills nicely when new. Now...(about 2 months later)....it bogs when going up a hill and I have to back down and get a good running start. The belt doesn't seem to be glazed or hurt. Question. Can I loosen the bolts and move the engine forward a bit to make the belt tighter? Will this hurt or change anything? Thanks in advance.

I don't see how it could hurt. If that was happening to me I'd do it. How old is your clutch? Does it have ridges in the sheaves? They can wear out over time. Do you have the old-style Salsbury drive clutch (used from '84-'87)? I heard those clutches aren't as good as the '88-up clutches. I actually have an extra (old-style) one I'm selling because I know I'll never use it.

What size tires are you running? I want to lift my '87 with the KF82 and run 22s.

Nice. What did you do with the muffler when you lifted it?

I bought this cart used and the lift kit was already on it. Not sure that anything was done to it. I intend to shorten and perhaps put a bend in the long muffler tube to get a little more clearance.
