Default Club Car precedent starting question

Hello, if this has been discussed before i am sorry. I searched but did not seem to find an answer.

I have a Gas 2005 Club Car Precedent that is new to me. I was told when i start it to hold in a choke button and then press the gas and it would start.

But often when i push the button and the pedal it does not do anything other than make a high pitched noise. Is this because the motor is cold and has not warmed up, a belt slipping, or normal?

I have only had it for a few weeks and have not really driven it much other than in and out of my garage and up and down my block. We will take it for a day trip to our camper this Sunday and i will see how it actually works.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,

You can switch the cart to maintenance mode which will allow you to run the engine with the shifter in neutral (lever is straight up). You do this by lifting the seat and turn the yellow knob 180 degrees on the center of the front wall of the engine compartment. It is directly under the cross bar running from front to rear. The yellow knob is spring loaded and you must pull back slightly to turn it.

Now block the wheels just in case and use a stick to push the accelerator or have a helper push the accelerator while you watch.

My guess is that your starter belt is slipping. If the starter turns but the motor doesn't, then tighten the starter belt if it is not worn. Otherwise replace it.
