Default 89 2 stroke ez-go fuel issues

i have an 89 2 stroke ez-go i just got about a month ago and have been slowing fixing it up. it always ran fine, but within the last couple days it's been acting funny. right now, it will not start up unless i choke it and that is the only way to keep it going. if i push the choke in, it's dead in the water and will not start or take off. i'm guessing fuel issue at this point. i noticed before the inline fuel filter was always "full" with gas, but now it's "nearly empty"...it holds just a little bit in it, like it drizzles in through, but does not fill up like before. so it's enough to start it when choked, but not much beyond that. i thought it was the fuel pump, but when i take the line off at the carb and push the pedal fuel comes out. meanwhile the inline filter does not "fill up" with gas in it like before. is my pump working, but not to it's full capability, or do i have a problem somewhere else? i'd hate to buy a new pump without knowing for sure.

I would start with the carburetor. Take the carb off and clean the bowl and main jet with a carb cleaner and a fine piece of wire. Sounds like your carb may be dirty
