Re: Mounting on rear basket
I’m thinking that the holes are non threaded from the factory. The screws make their own threads

Re: Mounting on rear basket
Here are photos of what the threaded insert is supposed to look like. It looks like some sort of nut on the inside. Unfortunately mine does not have anything and the hole is too wide to insert something like this, looks like almost double the size.

Re: Mounting on rear basket
For reference, here is what mine looks like, no threaded insert, just pretty large holes.

Re: Mounting on rear basket
Maybe toggle bolts would work for you. The kind that you use in sheetrock and ceilings to mount brackets and the like.

Re: Mounting on rear basket
Those threaded inserts are a type of rivet nut. The ones that install in plastic usually require an installation tool, but they can be found for a reasonable price.
It would be the proper way to add a threaded insert to a hole that large in this material. Kevin Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

Re: Mounting on rear basket
If you had access to take a photo of the back side, would it be possible to install a flanged nut, or a nut and fender washer on a bolt?

Re: Mounting on rear basket
Yes, I can remove the basket from the cart and access the inside to install a flanged nut on a bolt, just need to find that type of rivet nut.

Re: Mounting on rear basket
I believe they're called "bulbed" or "pre-bulbed" rivet nuts.

Re: Mounting on rear basket
The holes in the outer shell are precisely located for you to put the Club Car self taping screws through and hit the sub structure . The substructure has been engineered to bear the weight of common accessories like ball washers, sand buckets and coolers. I have personally seen customers use wood screws in place of the original self taping screws but can't recall if they were #8 or #10.
It may look like an empty hole, but there is a thicker web work of plastic behind that empty hole that is actually there to support the "load". The actual outer "shell" would not support the accessories on its own because it is very thin. |

Re: Mounting on rear basket
Thanks to everyone for your help!
I was able to locate some jack nuts which I installed today, just mounted my cooler and they hold well. |
