Default 2001 Ezgo running slow

Have a 2001 Ezgo that is running slow in forward and reverse. Did some research and found you can push the cart (feeling for resistance) to test speed sensor magnet. Push the cart and it will freely roll after beeping without any resistance so I assume the magnet/sensor is bad. My question is how do you go about replacing this. I've looked and can't seem to find how to replace it anywhere. Thanks for any help you can offer

Speed sensor is on end of motor, the sensor has a grey wire harness going to controller. It is usually held in by a snap-ring. Pull sensor out, and check if magnet is broken or detached. Magnet problems are more common than sensor problems (but they both look like a sensor problem as far as the controller is concerned).

Thanks for quick response. I got the clip out, wiggled sensor out with pair of pliers and found magnet. The magnet looked fine and torx screw was not loose. Replaced magnet anyway but the cart is still running super slow. What should I try now?

I think the cart is a 2002 if that changes anything

The problem was with magnet "detaching" from washer, not "losing magnetism". You could go to controller end of speed sensor cable and check for pulse when pushing cart. Red & black wires provide power to sensor, one of the other 2 wires will give a "pulse" when cart is moving. One lead from volt meter will go to black wire, other lead will go to green or white wire. If you cant find any pulse you might have a bad tach sensor. The cart gives no resistance to being pushed?

When I push the cart in forward or reverse, the cart starts to beep but no resistance to stop it from rolling away. I'll have to check for pulse on those wires when I go back to work on cart tomorrow. Is the tach sensor the grey cable that goes from controller to the motor?

Yes, grey wire actually has 3 or 4 wires in it. They are visible at the controller end.

If the tacho sensor turns out to not be the problem, is the controller going to be my issue?
