Default Arm rests

Is the driver's side arm rest suppose to be shorter than the passenger's side? Odd that I haven't noticed it until now.

I took mine off. Made it really easy in and out. But when I turn left and push on the wife, She made me put them back on. I was trying... but she held on a little to tight.
