After taking flywheel off I found another object where it did not belong.

Looks like the spring from a defective crank seal.

Sorry didn't see the post before this!! Foreign metal pieces is not a good thing. I would maybe GUESS part of a bearing cage which would also destroy a seal. At any rate I believe you my need some serious repairs.

Better pull that things apart while its out.

Its super easy to disassemble takes less than 45 mins...
I wasted a lot of money just swapping bearings and seals to only find out one season was all the connecting rod bearing was going to last. Toasted my cylinder beyond repair.
Just break down and buy a whole new kit with crank/jug/pistion/wrist pin/ seals/gaskets/bearings ect.
It will save you in the long run and you'll notice a huge difference in power and sound.

$370 on Ebay...
I know its a lot of $$$ but trust me you'll be happy with the end results and youll get 20 more years outta the old fella!

After further removal of parts I have been able to confirm that the above object was in fact from the seal. I am still searching for the source of the other foreign object. On 2/28/2018 I am going to a friends house to split the crankcase to check the bearings. If I spin the crank at the current stage of disassembly I do not think I have a bearing problem.

I'm almost certain that round like peice is a connecting rod bearing...take advice from someone who figured it out the hard way. Did the same thing your doing by replacing seals/bearings/wrist pin/gaskets only to get through one season and the connecting rod bearing blew causing damage beyond repair to my cylinder and toasting my bearings as well from all the shavings. Found three almost identical looking. These motors once the seals and bearings go will more often than not need a new crank as well...if you have play moving the connecting rod up and down then it needs to be replaced...even a very little bit of movement is NOT good...so do it right the first time and you want have to do it a 2nd or 3rd time and it'll last another 20-30 years.

If you found it under the flywheel like that, there is no way it came from inside the engine.

I agree no way it made it past the bearings and it by some bizarre way it did the bearing would be destroyed

With a bunch of magnification, it looks spiral wound like another spring from a seal.

I miss read the post thought you found it in the engine...could it be the woodruff key or the bushing from the oil pump that sits on the crank???
