You MIGHT get by with the original solenoid. Some hold up, some give up the ghost right away. Just the luck of the draw. If you leave the coil voltage @36 volts it may work just fine. You can do Gornos charging method: using a 12 volt charger plus the 36 volt to get by till you can get a 48 volt.

yep, that works. used an extra 12v charger for long time. i still use a hd 36v solenoid. i figure the internal large contacts are the same for both. hasn't failed yet.
