Battery Voltage 6.20

I have a 05 PDS 36 volt cart. It sat a lot this winter but I did charge it a couple of times. It has very little power now after charging it over night twice. I checked the voltage on each battery after a full charge and every one of them is at 6.20, does that mean the batteries are bad not taking a full charge? Batteries are about 5 years old so i'm sure its time.

Could be battery time , need to get those puppies up to 6.3 - 6.4 volts
Established procedure is to leave battery charger on throughout storage period

Also, most battery chargers will NOT keep batteries charged (float) unless you initiate a new charge, which should be done AT LEAST monthly, regardless of usage.

Not knowing where you're located, "Winter" could be a couple of cold days or weeks, to many months.

Make sure they have the proper level of water and the charger is working properly. It is remotely possible but unlikely they will come back to life.

Yurt , lots of battery chargers have a float charge in them if he does not have one he needs to go get one like DPI style

Agreed, but not stock EZ-Go chargers.

I knew last fall when the weather got colder that the batteries in my 06 PDS TXT were pretty much shot when performance deteriorated after a half mile run.

I would leave the Powerwise charger plugged in and the charger would initiate a new charge cycle on its own everyday even when the cart was not used. I do not know if this charger has a float charge function or not.

I decided to "pull the plug on the patient" and not spend any more money for charging on a set of worthless batteries.

As the temps hit zero, the ScottyB voltage meter eventually went blank.

In the spring the voltage meter came back to life on its own with a 12.5 volt reading. Not so good.

Bit the bullet and bought the Crown batteries shown below this spring. Running all accessories now off a scooter/wheelchair battery.

All is good now.

You need new batteries.

Best of my knowledge tells me a power wise charger only cycles when the cart plug is pulled.

Not mine. The guy I bought my cart from in 2012 said it was a new 36v charger. Everyday when I got home from work, it would be on with the old batteries.

Now with new batteries, I have not seen a self initiated charge cycle even if the cart has set for days with no use. Of course now 3 days I still read 38.2 on the ScottyB in dash volt meter.

There must be some voltage threshold where the charge cycle initiates.

What model Powerwise charger do you have?
Not many have the feature you describe.
