Another Regen 2 to IQ question
Some of you might know from my previous threads that I have a 2000 DS with Regen 2. I recently purchased an Alltrax DCX IQ controller for $160 shipped that I was going to buy the PD Plus Adapter for and have reprogrammed for my cart.
But....after reading about the IQ conversion on this site and since I already have an IQ controller now, is it worth it for me to convert to IQ? It sounds like the main reason for an IQ conversion is for more speed. I'm not looking for more speed, of course I'll take more speed, but instead I'm wanting torque for my 23" tires with long travel suspension and off road trail riding. Since my funds are running low I was thinking of the Plum Quick Bandit motor with my Alltrax DCX600. Would this be a good economical option for more torque and a little speed for me? Or is the IQ system still better for what I'm wanting? Sorry so long any input and opinions would be awesome so I can figure out what I want to do.....thanks |

I don't think the bandit motor will handle that many amps very long. You may as well change to IQ for further upgrades. That's just me.

Re: Another Regen 2 to IQ question
Thanks for the info. Anybody have a rough estimate what converting to IQ would cost? I'm sure TahoeDawg would know.

Re: Another Regen 2 to IQ question
I almost forgot....One more question. My stock Regen 2 charger works good. Does upgrading to my DCX600 affect the charger? And does converting to IQ require a different charger?

Re: Another Regen 2 to IQ question
No. The charger is just for the battery. It does need the OBC to operate.

Re: Another Regen 2 to IQ question
The IQ will require a different OBC than Regen I or II. Rather than buy another OBC I suggest you get a standalone charger for about the same cost. A drive system conversion can cost around $1500 depending upon the components chosen, I see you already have a control so you can save $ there. You still need solenoid, wire harness, obc or charger (I'm not certain if you need a motor or not with this particular model) Somebody can address that for you.
