Re: 1999 Club Car DS quit
What were you doing when the cart quit on you?
Can you be 100% certain that you actually put + on the small + post and - on the small - post of the solenoid when it did not click? Did you remove one end of the diode for this forced activation test? |

He's kinda young - I think it's his first time this far south.

Scotty, when I tested it I followed THIS Disconnect main negative. I removed all wires, diode, and resistor. I had no continuity across the large posts, so I went to the next test #2. It says polarity was not important. I tried it both ways. Same thing either way. Nothing. No click, no continuity. |

OK so its been over a week. Can anyone else check my work so far? I will just buy another solenoid elsewhere if I have to. Just want to get it running.

Re: 1999 Club Car DS quit
Ok so I pulled the solenoid off and took it down to the local golf cart shop. They had a heavy duty one that looked just like the carts unlimited one. 400amp 48v but it had 24v coil instead of 48v coil. They said the coil voltage didn't matter and it would work fine. So I bought it. Starting to wonder now if I should bring it back? Does the coil voltage matter?

Take the solenoid back to the So called "golf cart shop', I think they may have forgot to change the sign outside to "shoe shines, while you wait:
You need a 48 volt solenoid, 24 volt will not last long |

Re: 1999 Club Car DS quit
It was a 48 volt solenoid, just the coil on it was 24 volts. Didn't make sense to me. But I guess I'll take it back. Frustrating.

Re: 1999 Club Car DS quit
The large post don't have a voltage rating, only amp. The coil is the solenoid voltage. The large post could carry 200 volts or more as long as the amp load is not too high.
