87 Marathon rear end rebuild
Is there a go-to place to find pinions and bearings for the old 2pg golf carts? When I got my cart the rear end was completely dry and looked like it had been for a while. The previous owner really did a number on this poor cart. It is extremely hard to push the cart around even with the drive belt removed. I am guessing this is due to the extreme slop on the rear end causing some binding.
I am looking for a new pinion gear, pinion bearing(s), crush sleeve (if these have one of those), and the pinion seal. The ring gear didn't look terrible. Thanks! |

So far as bearings go that should not be an issue, pull it apart and get the numbers off them and just get them from a parts store. I am sure they are used in a lot of different applications. Heck I got all the bearings for the diff in my 62 Corvair at a local warehouse in stock. Tom Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk |

Re: 87 Marathon rear end rebuild
I have a rear end I could pull apart if you are interested
I do not think their is much use on it. The owner had bought two back in the eighties, kids didn't mix gas and blew it up and parked it in the garage. |

Re: 87 Marathon rear end rebuild
I am definitely interested if the price is right. This is a budget cart I only use to visit my neighbors because I am too lazy to walk. Hahaha if you pull the ring and pinion and bearings, let me know price and shipping. I would even consider the driven clutch for a good price since mine is pretty wiped out. I can probably source the seals locally through my shop without any issues. You can PM me if you like. Thank you!

Re: 87 Marathon rear end rebuild
Rib, I will have to run out and take a picture or two. I believe that my pinion sits on the top, not on the bottom. I could also be crazy.

Here is what I am working with. I will also include a bonus picture of my sweet driven clutch.
