Club car ds GE motor bearing removal
Does anyone have instructions on how to take the motor apart to replace bearing? I removed the motor to install centering kit... thanks

Re: Club car ds GE motor bearing removal
Ok, I removed the armature, so now I will replace the bearing. Do the parts from the kit go directly on the trans spline shaft? I'm a little confused about that part!

Yes parts slip on the shaft. Flat washer-spring-washer-rubber bushing cone side facing motor.
I don't install the new bearing, I found it many times created a new noise, so I would leave it off unless yours is making noise already. |

Re: Club car ds GE motor bearing removal
Thanks, the bearing is bad, so I will be replacing it! It appears to require a special puller since the bearing retainer is in the way of the puller fingers that I have, any suggestions?

I use a press and a bearing splitter, but a small bearing puller should work fine for one of these.

I'm in the exact situation and unable to remove the bearing. Planning to pick up a bearing puller. Did this work for you? And also, how does the new bearing go on?
Thank you. |

Re: Club car ds GE motor bearing removal
The new bearing needs to be pressed on.
If you can secure the armature standing up on end, use a socket that fits the Inner Race of the bearing. Put a smear of lock-tite on the motor shaft to help lubricate it and use the socket and a hammer to tap the bearing on. |

Re: Club car ds GE motor bearing removal
Question?
How do you guys clean up the armature? Never could get the commutator flat and clean without a Lathe, or do you just clean up by hand? If it works...it works. Our shop don't need the burden of a warranty repair bill because a rebuild motor didn't last. When requested to install or rebuild a used motor, its "as-is" no warranty & most customers elect to go new. |
