Default putting a lower amp controller in

just wondering if i had a 275amp controller in the my golf cart, and it went bad and a sales man sold me a 250 amp controller by mistake, would i see any slower speed or sluggish performance in my cart, like gong up hills, also if i get a 300 amp would i see any difference in performance of my golf cart at all, like more torgue or speed going up hills etc..

What kind of cart are we talking about?

Absolutely you would see less performance on hills with a lower amperage controller.

The term 250 amp controller refers to the amperage limit the controller will allow the motor to access. The difference between 250 and 275 is probably not something you feel in the seat of your pants.
The same goes for the difference between 275 and 300. Unless the 300 is an Alltrax XCT with an actual limit of 350. In which case you could tell some difference between 275 and 350 amps.

Which of the 2 drive systems produced in 1998 do you have? Series or DCS

The 300 will not do any harm to the stock cart components

I say forget both of them and go with a SR 400amp controller.

We have 300,400,500,and 600 and controllers. The most popular controller we sell for this cart is 500 amps. A 500 amp controller pretty much allows the motor full access to the battery pack at wide open throttle. Just like the old resistor coil drive systems did. Anything less is a restriction. Note the SR48400 control suggested has a peak output of 460 amps. That's 15% more than any of the competition in that range
