Default 89 EZgo lost power!

Hey all!! Question. The wife took the cart for a long ride the other day and in the middle of the ride, the cart started smoking pretty bad. Since then it sputters and lost most of its power. I found some pluggage in the fuel line and replaced. Pulled carburetor off to clean.

Any tips? Suggestions?

New here myself but without knowing more details going to make a few assumptions and guesses from this. Did not say running poorly before this occurred but once it happened state it sputtered and lost most power. Fuel restriction good first guess. Not sure what fuel you use personally but if it sits long periods of time unused and fuel has ethanol good chance along with gummed up fuel line the jets are plugged up too. Do you have to keep adding some choke now to keep it running? If line plugged how was filter? When you look in fuel tank is it clean or do you see floatys in it? Toss some more info forums way to help a bit better. As is best guess is fuel related issue.

Gas was new.

Yes it was running smooth and then started smoking. After it sat and cooled down, we got back on it to get it home. Still smoked (not that bad) and didn’t have much power at all. Nothing would really help it stop sputtering/gain power.

Did you mix the gas, or is it oil injection?

It sounds like it was run with straight gas.

Do a compression test.
