Re: 1996 club car
Yellow wire or yellow cable?
There should not be voltage on the frame on an electric cart. If anything is grounded to the frame it needs to be removed. Remove any wiring for lights or any other accessories that have small wires attached to the batteries. Check the motor for an internal short that could cause voltage to get to the frame. Check all battery cables and cables between the pack and solenoid/motor/controller as well as cables to the FnR switch if it’s a series cart. Check for insulation rubbed through or anywhere that the cable ends may be touching metal parts of the frame or mounting brackets. If all of that checks out OK then blame the controller. |

I'm not the person to ask, but there may be some voltage stored in a capacitor in the controller. Sounds like you may have something touching on the pack somewhere you have not seen. |

Re: 1996 club car
The controller does have several capacitors that store voltage, but only for about 10 minutes after is unhooked, and then they'll be drained.
If you have the pack positive and negative disconnected and still have voltage on the frame then your meter may be faulty. Try a different meter if you can. Otherwise I wouldn't have any idea. |
