2002 ds lights out
Headlight problem on 2002 DS club car. 48V. It appears that the headlight system
was aftermarket, because the positive line is taken off battery #5 and the negative wire was attached to the frame (ugh). Was working ok for many years, but suddenly No lights. I get 17v on one side of the switch, and 17V on the other when switch activated. At the front left light..(first stop past the switch) I get 17v on the incoming prong .... and surprize (to me) 17v on the negative prong. When the bulb holder is reconnected I get 17v on one side of the actual bulb ....and surprize (to me) 17v on the other.. and yet the bulb is not lit....an ohm test on the bulb show bulb OK ....???????. Any suggestions....other than replace all the wiring and use a volt reducer???? |

Re: 2002 ds lights out
17 volts on either side is zero volts across the lamp so it won't light. You are missing the negative connection somewhere.

Re: 2002 ds lights out
thanks for the reply.....I don't quite understand.....How does 17v end up
on both the negative and positive prongs.....is there a "cross-over" somewhere I did check all wiring and could not see anything that looked abnormal Obviously I am not an electrician..I appreciate your time |

Re: 2002 ds lights out
I think I get it now.
If I run a wire (aligater clip) from the "out" side of the lamp to the frame, would that cause a problem.??...and should the lamp lite up I would then check the negative wire for a disconnect or replace it from the negative post of battery #6... Once again .. thanks for your time Collin |

Re: 2002 ds lights out
Do you have a high/low beam foot switch? I had the same problem and this was the problem.

Re: 2002 ds lights out
Using a voltmeter, find the 2 posts(one negative and one positive) on the battery bank that gives you 16-17volts.
You will be 2 different batteries to get the 16-17 volts. Red wire to positive. Black wire to negative. That should be the fix. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: 2002 ds lights out
No high beam/low beam switch
Tried routing the negative line to the proper battery post instead of to the frame ... made no difference Looks like the negative line is snagged somewhere Will probably replace the line come springtime Does the rear movement alarm run off the same 17v system.....? It has been working sometimes ..and not at others Collin |
