Re: Battery diagnosis - 2004 ezgo 36 volt series cart
You use it for 5 miles. with the readings you gave, you can continue to use the cart with limited range. Its what we call " a one round" golf car.

No one can "estimate" your battery life by looking at readings posted here! If they hold a charge and serve their purpose, then you are OK. If you are experiencing problems now, then it's time to replace them.
The only way to truly test your battery pack is on a discharge machine - which most golf carts shops should have Your battery age has already reached it limits... |

Re: Battery diagnosis - 2004 ezgo 36 volt series cart
scottyb: I am a little confused about the time to take voltage and SG readings. You said here not to take the readings until 12 hours after the charging shut or else a false reading would occur. When we talked about my 37.1 reading off my solar cart the next morning before the sun hit the solar panels, someone said I should have taken a reading an hour after the sun went down or an hour after I last used the cart? Am confused but very pleased with my 32 sq ft of solar panels on the cart. Great shade and great motoring.

Re: Battery diagnosis - 2004 ezgo 36 volt series cart
You just need to wait long enough for the surface charge to dissipate. A 36v pack fresh off the cycle can read upwards of 44+ volts. And then over time settle to typically 38-39v. The amount of time can vary. Age and condition of batteries can accelerate the self discharge.

On hydrometer readings you can take them right after pulling it off the charger. I think if someone has the sheet for Club car battery warranty procedure, it will spell this out to take the readings right after. You don't have to wait.
