The Tomberlin carts use the Delta-Q. Look at the forum over there. Someone has posted the maintenance manual for it, in it, is info on changing and checking some things for the charger.

No advantage I know of, it had come up another time that someone was only able to buy so many batteries. I would always go right the the common 48 if you're not jumping to 72 for a while.

If you check out www.buggiesgonewild.com/columbia-parcars you'll find the information on the Delta-Q in it's own folder. The operating guide, the algorithm list and how to change it.

Keep in mind that 2006 and newer can have a different algorithm preloaded for you.

I don't think anyone is suggesting you go to 42v, merely that you could do it with that charger. IMO, 48v is the right path to follow.
