Default Help with 48 volt upgrade

Looking for a little information on 48 volt upgrade from 36 volt. I have 6 brand new T-105 6 volt batteries and now would like to convert to 48 volt. Can i add a seventh batterey at 12 volts to my system to get the 48 or do i have to get 6 new 8 volt batteriers. I have the room and i know i would have to change the contactor relay and the charger plus i already have a 48 volt controler. I have looked for this info. but cant find anything on it. Please help me with your ideas and knowledge.
Thanks

Tell us how old your current batteries are. If they are a year old or younger, you can simply add two more batteries to the pack. You can not add a single 12 volt battery to make up the rest of the 48 volts. You will also need to keep the batteries similar. You could use other makes, but you should keep the rating of the batteries similar, like an Interstate GC2 from Sam's would be almost identical to the Trojans T105 if you choose to go for a less expensive battery.

If you don't already have them in place, change out your stock 6 gauge cables with 4 gauge cable. You'll need the extra capacity.

Others will certainly chime in with more info. Good luck with your upgrade. You're gonna love it!

You should not mix 6 & 12v in the same pack. Add two 6v batteries in the bagwell. This will give you the longest run time.
What solenoid (contactor) you need will depend upon what controller you have.

Tell us what other modifications you have or plan and what you use the cart for and on what type of terrain..... then we can tell you what you need to get this done
