Resistors/EZGO Electric
I recently purchased a 1984/86 EZGO Electric Car, and unfortunately the maintenance on this vehicle had been disregarded. Although on the surface this three wheeler looked pretty good, it needs a lot of TLC. My question is; The resistor coils on this vehicle look rusty, and yet the connections are real tight. Do these coils need to be cleaned and lightly lubricated? I read somewhere that these coils could go out of service and cause the vehicle to stop functioning. Any Help in this area would be appreciated. |

Re: Resistors/EZGO Electric
If it is not broken don't fix it :-) Don't put any oil on the coils. they heat up, this is how the excess energy is burned off to control speed. Are the coils mounted in a box in the middle of the batteries or on back body of the cart and exposed ? If you are planning on upgrading the wires be carefully trying to get the nuts off the coils. The coils and the board they are mounted to are old and brittle. Most likely you will brake it. so plan on buying a new set. but like I said, if it works fine for you don't mess with the coils until you are prepared to change them out.
