Default Good deal?

New to the forum hopefully posting this in the right place. Looking for a cart and came across a 98 ez go with 6" lift, rims, tires, radio, new paint, upgraded to 48v, high speed motor, and new controller. $2500. What do y'all think? Would I be better off building one or biting the bullet with this one. Have come across some club car and ez gos for less and a little newer but when you add up all the accessories and mods I want to do the 98 seems to be the best deal. I guess the biggest concern is the age of the cart even though it has been updated in the past year and I am buying it from a friend. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Default Re: Good deal?

The only major differences between a 98 E-Z-GO and say a 2005 is in the steering and the powder coating......

As of 2001.5 (January of 2001 to be precise), the steering box got moved from the firewall to the front axle which resulted in a cart that was much easier to steer. Of course some linkages changes were also made and they switched to mainly greaseless fittings as well at that time.

As for the powder Coat, I believe it was 2003 when they changed the type being used to also include some corrosion inhibitors to prevent damage from salt. They termed it E-Coat or E-shield (depending on which engineer you talk to), and it has yet to be determined if it actually is going to prevent the damage seen in earlier production carts although so far it appears to be working.

$2500 for that cart appears to be an excellent deal in my opinion.
