runs good slow until fast then it cuts off :-/
I bought used and sat in barn for years a 2005 PDS. I installed new Trojan, lifted, stock motor and controller..when I first run it , it was very slow...but the more I rode the faster it went after about 2 days...all is well for 3 weeks...then it started cutting off when I go faster and floor it..I uturn of key switch and it runs at low speed fine until I floor it then it slows down and cut off again...I'm new to golf cart but I'm mechanically inclined...pls help...tyvm :-)

Sounds like possible bad ITS (throttle sensor). Read up around here for test procedure for ITS, sounds like you can use a volt meter.

No, the speed sensor is on the motor, the throttle sensor is at the gas pedal area. Throttle sensor is a generic term, ezgo calls it a ITS ( Inductive Throttle Sensor). Its a little more tricky to test than a ohm-meter 0-5k test, like the "kinda-old" days.

OR the controller could be getting hot and shutting down on THERMAL SHUTDOWN. then it will restart after it cools down some.

The controller box is definitely hot but idk if controller or solenoid :-(

You said it was lifted with stock motor and controller.
Lifted typically means taller tires than stock height (18"). Tall tires and stock PDS controllers don't play well together. The controller overheats and shuts off, and eventually fails. |
