Melting wires????
Could anyone tell me why the wires going from the motor to the coils is melting the plastic insulation?? It is a 98 CC 48V conversion with V-Glide and coils.

Re: Melting wires????
When you upgraded to 48V did you upgrade the wiring as well? Loose and or dirty connectors will cause this as well.

Re: Melting wires????
Too much current (unlikely), bad connections or just plain ole crap cables.

Re: Melting wires????
Most time I've seen it melt out in the middle or length of the wire is from a dead azz short, Gotta always go with the more common failure statistics (behind the ends) when poor info is given.

Re: Melting wires????
I upgraded the wire to 10awg on all the wire except the wires going from the V-Glide to the coils because i could not get a connector small enough to fit the V-glide side. It is melting at the ends not in the middle
Thanks for all the help |

Re: Melting wires????
Sounds like a bad connector cable ,
If you can't replace this cable then Jump another larger cable across this and see if it also over melts ? If it also melts the problem is elsewere , if not ,get the correct ends at ACE or Home Depot or Autommotive parts and make a new cable ! |
