Default ERIC Charger 2016 Precedent Chevy Bolt 14s Pack..??

Hello so I have only posted on times.

I bought my 2016 club car precedent last June 2020.

Since then I’ve lifted it, installed a 48 V to 12 V transformer, lights, plum quick bandit motor, David us 600 amp DC controller, 600 amp solenoid, upgraded the battery wire’s going to the controller and the two going from the controller to the motor to 2 gauge.

I’ve also installed toggle switches, a fuse block……

It’s in ongoing project that I’d like to wrap up soon. I do have an in-line 400 amp fuse between the 10 S and the 4S pack as per the local shop that made this battery for me this past winter..

I’m also going to put a 400 amp in-line fuse at the positive side of the battery post and I have a master severe duty shut off toggle switch that I mounted next to the forward reverse switch on the Cart. Everything else is the same in terms of the toll run switch.

I also put a 300 ohm resistor and a 6A diode on the solenoid.

I have not fired all of the stuff up yet because I’m still finishing the battery install. Like others have done I have had to cut the battery box on my Precident To accept the lithium pack.

As I said it’s a 14S 2017 Chevy bolt lithium Cell 48 V battery. I will try to find some photos here.

1. I have spoken to the gentleman who built the battery but I want some input from any of you experts who have been in my shoes with this type of battery in that I want to know if my ERIC charger is compatible with this pack, will fully charge this pack, and will not damage this pack.

I did forget to mention of course there is a BMS melted on top of the battery

2. I am planning on using the existing male to female charge port that consists of my red, black, and blue wires that are wired currently as they were from the factory.

Any expert advice is appreciated.

Typo, rather a BMS attached (not melted) to the top of the battery.

And the 400a fuse is my MSD between cells 10 and 11 of a 14S pack

plus my overkill master toggle shutoff

Hi,

A FLA charger is not compatible with lithium batteries. You will need to purchase a 58.8v lithium charger. Some will try to convince you that a FLA charger can be used. It will put charge into the battery but at best you’ll get reduced capacity and life, at worst, you’ll have a destructive fire. The argument that they will use is that the BMS will control the charge, that is not the case. The BMS is a protection device, it is not a charge controller.

Cheers
Pat.

What about something like this?

Now would I wire this charger with removable connectors directly to the battery and remove the red, blue, and black wires coming from the charge receptacle on my precedent and completely remove that charge receptacle??

That charger would work just fine. I would order one with the Anderson Connector and order another connector to connect it to the pack. One other thing, how wide is your battery pack?

You want a Lithium charger, not a FLA (Flooded Lead Acid)

The charger you linked to will charge just fine. Do you know the capacity of your pack? Whatever the pack capacity is in Ah, divide it by the charge current and you'll get an approximate time in hours to charge from empty.

Cheers
Pat.

180 mah

No I found some of those Delta Q chargers online and they seem comparable in price to the Erik charger I have. I just don’t want to buy some cheap piece of garbage I’ve got a lot of money invested in the cart I’d rather get a good charger if anyone can provide me with links I appreciate it

OK for my needs with the Chevy bolt lithium ion batteries which would be a better choice:?
