Cushman Turf Truck has no spark.
Hey Friends can ya lend a hand?
Just got a 1972 Cushman Turf-Truckster, was told it was running in the last year. Fixed the Points, cuz they were stuck but still no spark to plugs. Whats the procedure for trouble shooting the weak link? |

Re: Cushman Turf Truck has no spark.
Hello Billy Bo, I think I have a similar problem. How did you get yours solved. ? Mine is a 3 -wheeler, plugs on top so its 22hp. stamped Huxley on the rear load body and been standin for 18 months, but told ''Yes, it was running fine ''. It sounds healthy enough on the cranking. Any help is appreciated . Thanks , dunsio.

Also check where the wire connects to on the distributor. This is a stud and nut that has 3 insulators that insulate the stud from the distributor body. Check these and make sure they are in good shape and present. The last thing is the condenser. It rarely goes bad, but if it does, no spark! To test it hold the wire lead to the body for a few seconds. now take a 9V battery, hold one terminal on the body, the other on the wire for a few seconds. Now using a DMM on low volts scale check the condenser by holding a probe on the body of the condenser and the other on the wire. You should see around 9V and then it will slowly decrease in voltage. The coil can be checked with the resistance scale on the meter, but I don't know the specs for it. Let us know how it goes! |

Re: Cushman Turf Truck has no spark.
Crash, all the ignitions were the same on the OMC 18 and 22 with the exception of ignition coils. Early engines had 1 coil with 2 plug wires, later engines had 2 individual coils, both fired off of 1 set of points
